The federal government has announced a new plan to attract more international students to French-speaking communities across Canada. As part of the plan, the Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot (FMCSP) program was announced by Immigration Minister Mark Miller. The pilot program will begin on August 26. 2,300 students will be admitted in the first year. He also informed that under this new pilot program of IRCC, Francophone students will get permanent residency status at the end of their temporary stay.
Students participating in the program are permitted to bring their spouses, common-law partners or dependent children with them. Partners and general partners are eligible for a visitor visa, open work permit or study permit. And students in this program are exempt from recent changes to Canada's international student program.
