More than 70,000 international graduate students could face deportation proceedings in Canada due to federal policy changes. Currently, nationwide protests against deportations are intensifying. Many students who came to Canada with new dreams in life say their futures are now uncertain. Representatives of the student advocacy group Naujawan Support Network said the graduates are at risk of deportation when their work permits expire at the end of this year. Students face the threat of deportation after the Canadian government announced changes to immigration policies, including limiting study permits.

Students began to be affected by federal policies. Tens of thousands of students who had planned to finish their studies and apply for permanent residency are now living in the country with heavy loans and shattered dreams, the group says.

International students across Canada are organizing protests amid threats of deportation. A group of students have camped outside Prince Edward Island's legislature for more than three months as part of protests. Similar protests are underway in the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia. All the protesters are demanding positive intervention from the federal government.
