Air Canada has called off the pilots' strike after reaching a temporary agreement with the pilots. The strike was called off by the Airline Pilots Association, which represents 5,200 pilots. It was announced that the strike would start on Wednesday. Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge will continue to operate as normal and union members will continue their four-year contract.

The terms of the new agreement will be finalized next month and will continue pending approval by Air Canada's board of directors, it said. If the tentative agreement is approved, Air Canada pilots will receive about $1.9 billion in additional value over the life of the agreement. Passengers on flights scheduled from Sunday to September 23 will have their bookings transferred to the original flight in the same cabin as per the labor disruption plan, the airline said.
