Australian police's takedown of cybercrime platform 'Ghosty' has led to several arrests globally, including in Canada. 51 people were arrested, including the administrator of the app, Jai Jae Yoon Jung (32). Jung was arraigned in a Sydney court on charges including supporting a criminal organization and using the proceeds of crime. Jung did not apply for bail. The case will be heard in November. Until then, Jung will remain in jail.
Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Ian McCartney said 38 suspects were arrested in raids by law enforcement agencies in Canada, Sweden, Ireland and Italy.
Police said in a statement that they expect more arrests to be made in the coming days. Police allege that Jung developed the app specifically for criminal use in 2017.
