Next two to lose sleep; Asteroids speeding towards Earth

 

California: NASA has warned that two asteroids will pass by the Earth on September 24. NASA has named these asteroids as 2024 RO11 (2024 RO11) and 2020 GE (2020 GE). But the current assumption is that neither poses any threat to Earth.

2024 RO11 is an airplane-sized asteroid. Its diameter is 120 feet. But asteroid 2024 RO11 will pass on September 24 without any threat to Earth. The asteroid will be 4,580,000 miles away at its closest approach to Earth. But 2020 GE, which will approach Earth on September 24, will be notable for its proximity. Asteroid 2020 GE will come as close as 410,000 miles to Earth even though it is only 26 feet across. But NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory estimates that this asteroid has no chance of hitting Earth. However, NASA is carefully monitoring both polar regions.
