Permanent membership in the UN Security Council: France and Britain support India

New York: France and Britain support India's demand for permanent membership in the UN Security Council. President Emmanuel Macron announced that France fully supports India's long-standing demand. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also supported India's demand. Macron said the UN Security Council was stagnant and needed to be made more efficient by increasing representation. Macron said these things at the UN General Assembly in New York. France is in favor of developing a Security Council. He said that countries like Germany, Japan, India, Brazil and two countries representing Africa should be given permanent membership. Currently, the permanent members of the Security Council are Russia, China, France, Britain and the US.

US President Joe Biden has also announced that he will give full support to India's efforts for permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. Biden extended his support to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Quad Leaders Summit. Quad leaders also pledged support for reforming the UN Security Council. Biden praised India's leadership and Prime Minister Modi's role in the G-20 and the Global South.
