The National Council for Canadian Muslims has reported an attack on a woman wearing a hijab in London, Ontario. Police said the suspect brandished a knife at the woman near Berkshire Place and Berkshire Drive, yelling anti-Islamic and anti-Palestinian threats. He also assaulted another woman who came to his aid. James Edward Henkel, 70, was arrested in connection with the incident. He was released into custody. The London Police Service Hate Crime Unit is investigating, police said.
The police have concluded that religious and ethnic hatred is behind the attack. The girls escaped with minor injuries.
