Calgary has introduced new fines for people who dump snow in public and those who don't remove it properly. In this way, the aim is to properly remove the snow in winter, officials said. There are also fines for blowing snow from a private property onto a public property.

Anyone found moving snow from a driveway or private sidewalk onto a road or footpath will be fined. The city council had approved the new winter maintenance policy related to this.

Officials warned that snow removal from sidewalks is the responsibility of residents and that snow must be removed from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of snowfall. Visit the City of Calgary website to learn more.
