As Halloween approaches, drug-laced products resembling popular chocolates and candies are rampant in the market, police warn. The police also stated that such products have been widely seized from many places.
Two dispensaries in Port Alberni and Landsville were found to be in possession of such products during inspections. These products have been seized from five homes linked to a criminal gang that distributes illegal drugs and tobacco on Vancouver Island. Six people were arrested in this connection. RCMP Chief Superintendent Stephen Lee warned that such food items made in unsanitary conditions could cause serious health problems. He also advised parents to exercise extreme caution as dangerous products may be used carelessly by children.
