Akshay Kumar shares his decision to renounce Canadian citizenship and become an Indian citizen

 

 

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has faced a lot of criticism for his Canadian citizenship. Akshay Kumar has renounced his Canadian citizenship and is now officially an Indian citizen. The actor is discussing Canadian citizenship amid a diplomatic row between India and Canada. He explained that he acquired Canadian citizenship at a very challenging time when his films were not doing well and failing. He tried to work in cargo in Canada. But after some of his films started becoming successful, he said that India is his home base.

"Despite his Canadian citizenship, he always had a deep connection with India. "I will always be an Indian from my heart and soul," he says. That is how Akshay Kumar decided to give up his Canadian citizenship and become an Indian citizen. Akshay Kumar shared that he had applied for Indian citizenship long before the time of the pandemic, but was able to get citizenship and got an Indian passport only last year.
