A 10-year-old girl narrowly escapes after her shoe got stuck in an escalator in Toronto. The Crocs she was wearing got stuck in the escalator.
The incident occurred while visiting the Yonge-Eglington Centre mall in midtown Toronto. The accident occurred when she was about to get off the escalator. The shoe on her right foot was pulled onto the escalator. Since the strap was not attached, only the shoe was pulled. They say that if the strap had been attached, part of the foot could have been lost. There are reports that shoes with thin soles like Crocs have been involved in such accidents many times. In a similar accident in Singapore in 2007, part of a child's toe was lost. Following this, signs have been displayed in some malls warning against using such shoes on escalators. The parents of the boy who was involved in an accident in midtown Toronto said they are sharing this with the media to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
