2024 was the warmest year on record, according to a report by the European weather agency Copernicus. It was also the first year to exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius on average. The second highest surface temperature recorded since November 2023 was recorded in October 2024. It was 14.10 degrees Celsius. This was the 16th month in the last 17 months when global temperatures exceeded the 1.5 degree Celsius threshold, the agency said.

According to the India Meteorological Department, India had its second warmest November since 1901. The average maximum temperature was 29.37 degrees Celsius. This is 0.62 degrees above normal.

The average sea surface temperature (SST) for November 2024 was also the second highest on record, at 20.58 degrees Celsius, just 0.13 degrees Celsius below the record temperature set in November 2023.
