Kasbegi: 12 people have been found dead in an Indian restaurant at Georgia's popular ski resort. The incident took place in Gudauri, which is 2,200 meters above sea level. Since none of the deceased showed signs of external force, authorities have intensified their investigation to determine whether the incident was caused by carbon monoxide. National media reports explain that the deaths were caused by employees of the restaurant.
The employees were accommodated on the second floor of the restaurant. The Georgian Interior Ministry has launched a criminal investigation into the incident. After the power went out to the bedrooms in the cramped quarters, electricity was supplied by a generator. This also strengthens the suspicion that the cause of death may have been inhalation of toxic fumes from the generator.
The generator was also installed near the employees' resting area. Forensic experts have reached the scene and started an examination. Only one of the deceased is a Georgian citizen. The rest are foreign nationals. The number of dead has not yet been released. Gudauri is located near the Georgian Military Highway, on the southern side of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia.
