Delhi: The country pays tribute to the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others visited Manmohan Singh's residence and paid their respects. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to Manmohan. The funeral will be held tomorrow with full honours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to arrive at the residence number 3 at Janpath without any interruption. Modi paid his respects by laying a wreath.
After Modi, Union ministers like Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh also paid their respects to Manmohan Singh. Later, President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar visited the residence and paid their respects to the former Prime Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Manmohan Singh was an inspiration to future generations and that his departure was extremely sad.
Sonia Gandhi visited Manmohan Singh to remember the UPA era and the days they worked together in the party. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi paid their respects. Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, Prakash Karat and MK Raghavan MP also visited the residence.
The army arrived and draped the body of the former Prime Minister in the national flag. The funeral time will be decided after his daughter arrives from the United States in the night. The plan is to cremate him near the final resting places of former Prime Ministers near Rajghat. The timing of the public viewing in the AICC will be decided after discussions with the government.
