New York: Bluesky, the independent micro-blogging social media service that acquired many users from Elon Musk's X (old Twitter) in the United States, is launching a new photo and video sharing app. The name of this app is 'Flashes'. Although Bluesky is preparing a video-centric application on the model of Instagram and TikTok, Flashes has some other features.
Bluesky is an open source social media platform with more than 25 million users. Bluesky is developing a new app called Flashes, modeled after video-sharing social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. But Flashes developer Sebastian Vogelsang doesn't expect it to replace Insta or TikTok. Flashes is being developed independently, using Bluesky's decentralized A.T. protocol (Authenticated Transfer Protocol). The Flashes app has begun testing with iPhone beta users. It's unclear when the Android version of Flashes will arrive. Bluesky's Flashes app is expected to be featured in Apple's App Store soon.
Flashes will allow users to share up to four photos and up to a minute of video at a time. Posts made on Flashes will automatically be available on Bluesky. There is a feature that allows reactions and comments to be given through both apps. Flashes may also come with a DM (direct message) facility similar to Instagram. Flashes, which is available for free, may also feature some premium features that can be used by paying for it.
