Mumbai: The number of people suffering from a rare disease called Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is increasing in Pune. The number of people admitted to hospital with symptoms has crossed 100. Reports also indicate that 26 people are on ventilators. In this situation, the government has also announced free treatment for the patients.
Currently, 68 women and 33 men are undergoing treatment in various hospitals with symptoms. It is also reported that a person suspected of Guillain-Barré Syndrome has died in Solapur. With this, the death toll has reached two. As the disease started spreading to more people, the health department has also formed a rapid response team. The team has started testing in places with a high number of patients.
