The US government has instructed health officials to end cooperation with the World Health Organization. It is estimated that this may have serious consequences, including in Africa.

President Donald Trump had instructed to initiate the process of withdrawing from the World Health Organization as soon as he took office. Following this, John Nkengasong, an official at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, instructed all employees working with the organization to immediately stop working. It has also been clarified that further guidance will be awaited. The US decision may adversely affect the activities against infectious diseases such as Marburg virus and M pox in Africa. If Trump had announced that he was withdrawing from the World Health Organization, everyone thought that it would be implemented slowly. But the immediate withdrawal has created concern among everyone. Because the United States contributes a large percentage of the WHO's operating funds.
