Overseas Citizen of India, or OCI card, is a system set up by the Government of India on par with permanent residency cards for those with foreign citizenship.
Those with OCI cards will get the following benefits/benefits.
You can come to India with this card as many times as you want. Also, there is no time limit for those with OCI cards to live in India.
It is mandatory to inform the police about the place of residence and how long you will stay when you arrive in India with a normal foreign passport. But those with OCI cards don't need it.
Those with OCI cards will have all the rights and benefits in the financial and educational sectors, as a normal NRI have. But no agricultural lands or plantation land can be purchased.
The right to adopt children will be the same as any NRI
Those with OCI cards will be considered as any Indian in terms of air fare, entry fee to national parks and entry fee to wild animal sanctuaries.
The fee to visit national monuments, the fee to visit museums, and the fee to visit other historical sites will be the same consideration as any NRI. Also, for professionals such as doctor, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, advocates, architect and chartered accountant, the rules under their respective system apply to OCI just as any NRI have.
Registration booklets are sufficient for the OCI of those with OCI cards for identification for any service in the country. This will be ensured by all state governments. An affidavit certified by notary public can be used as address proof if necessary. In this affidavit, the foreign address and email ID of the OCI card holder should be placed. Anyone with an Overseas Citizenship Card will be informed at this address if they have any other information.
Those who have OCI card do not have the right to vote. Those with OCI cards are not eligible to hold the positions of MLA and Legislative Council. He is also not eligible for constitutional posts such as President, Vice President and Judge of the Supreme Court. Those with Overseas Citizen of India cards are not eligible for any government jobs.
