California: WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by Meta, may soon get a new Meta AI interface. This revised Meta AI interface will first come to the Android version of WhatsApp. Meta is reportedly making several changes to the way WhatsApp users access and use its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Meta AI. The new Meta AI interface is said to offer an automatic voice mode.

The latest upgrade feature based on the Android 2.25.5.22 WhatsApp beta version has been revealed by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo. With the new update, users will be able to interact with the Meta AI chatbot without opening the regular chat window. According to screenshots shared by the feature tracker, users can long-press on the Meta AI icon in the bottom-right corner of WhatsApp's chat screen to open Meta AI in the new interface and enable voice mode.
The new Meta AI interface will not be like the existing chat window. Instead, a large portion of the screen will have the chatbot's logo and a "listening" icon at the bottom. Users will be able to start a conversation with the AI or ask a question.
The feature tracker report also says that users can seamlessly switch to text mode by tapping the microphone button or typing something in the text field. The reports also say that Meta AI will only listen to users as long as they are in this interface. If they exit the window, the session will also end. The new interface may also include prompts aimed at inspiring users.

However, it is not clear when the new Meta AI interface will appear on WhatsApp. WhatsApp has not made any official announcement about the Meta AI redesign. It is also noteworthy that the new reports about the modification come after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently stated that it will bring major upgrades to Meta AI in 2025.
