California: NASA has announced the date of the return of Indian-origin astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who are stranded at the International Space Station. Sunita Williams and her team will return to Earth next Monday. The Crew 9 mission team, of which Sunita is now a part, will leave the station at 6.35 pm Indian time on the 17th.
NASA also informs that this time and date may have to be changed depending on the weather conditions. NASA has also announced that the launch of Crew 10, which was postponed this morning due to a technical issue, will take place tomorrow morning. A four-member team will go to the International Space Station as part of the Crew 10 mission. This launch will be at 4:56 am Indian time.
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have been at the International Space Station since June 2024. The two set off for the ISS on June 5 aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. However, due to a malfunction in the Starliner's propulsion system, a leak, and a heave, the two were unable to return to Earth on time after an eight-day mission. NASA tried several times to bring them back, but the return trip was postponed due to the risk of the Starliner being damaged.
