Washington: US Attorney Jessica Auber, who resigned after Donald Trump took office as president, was found dead at her home on Saturday. Jessica was the attorney in charge of the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA). Her body was found at her home in Alexandria, Virginia. The cause of death is being investigated, police said in a statement.
Alexandria police found her body in the 900 block of Beverly Drive at approximately 9:18 a.m. The news of Auber's death was heartbreaking, said Eric Siebert, the current US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. He said in a statement that she was "unparalleled as a leader, advisor and prosecutor" and that "we are amazed by how much she has accomplished in such a short time."
Jessica Auber was nominated by then-President Joe Biden to be the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia in August 2021. From 2015 to 2016, Auber served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice. From 2016 until becoming U.S. Attorney, she also served as Deputy Chief of the EDVA's Criminal Division.
