Good Friday is a holy day for Christians to honor the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the memories of its sacrifice. Therefore, Christians around the world observe the Friday immediately before Easter as Good Friday. This day commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Great and Holy Friday.
On this day following Maundy Thursday, when Jesus had the Last Supper with his disciples and washed their feet, setting a noble example of humility, Christians commemorate the suffering of Jesus Christ and his death on the cross on Mount Calvary. It is believed that Christ died on the cross to remove the sins of mankind and rose again on the third day. Christians commemorate the sacrifice of Christ on the cross for the sins of all mankind on Good Friday.
The Holy Bible says that Good Friday is the day when the Roman leader Pontius Pilate sentenced Jesus to be crucified after Judas Iscariot betrayed him. The Bible also says that he was brutally tortured, made to wear a crown of thorns, and carried a heavy wooden plank to the cross.
