Pahalgam terror attack; US issues travel advisory for India

Delhi: In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the US has issued a travel advisory for India. Due to terrorism and internal unrest, a travel advisory has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir and within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border. The advisory was issued on Wednesday.

Due to the terrorist attack and the atmosphere of unrest, travel to Jammu and Kashmir should be avoided. However, the advisory published on the official website of the US Embassy explains that the advisory does not apply to visits to eastern Ladakh and Leh. The advisory also explains that violence is breaking out on the India-Pakistan border. The advisory applies to trips to Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, which are frequented by tourists.

The advisory also details things to be careful about while traveling to India. Do not travel alone. Especially if you are a woman, do not travel alone. Personal safety plans should be considered. Be part of the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. The alert also explains that the country should follow the warnings. A grade 4 warning has been issued for travel to Jammu and Kashmir. A grade 4 warning has also been issued on the India-Pakistan border.

26 people were killed in a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. All 26 people killed in the terrorist attack have been identified. Three people from Gujarat, three from Karnataka, six from Maharashtra, two from Bengal, one from Andhra Pradesh, one from Kerala, one each from UP, Odisha, Bihar, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh are on the list of dead.
