Bruce Fanjoy became the star of the election with an unexpected victory in the house of Conservative leader Pierre Poilivre. Bruce Fanjoy, a business graduate, entered the race while working in marketing at a large company. Fanjoy's life is rich in stories of struggle and survival.

Bruce Fanjoy has worked as an assistant hockey coach for ten-year-old children. His volunteer work and his dedication to raising money for pediatric palliative care at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario make Fanjoy different. With the entry of Fanjoy, Poilivre lost the riding of Carlton, which he had held for 20 years. Fanjoy campaigned by visiting 15,000 homes. Poilivre failed to gain any ground in the counting of votes. Poilivre's defeat will leave the Conservatives, at least temporarily, without a leader in the House of Commons. It is the first time a Conservative Party leader has lost a seat in an election since former Prime Minister Kim Campbell lost in 1993. At the time, Campbell led the Progressive Conservatives, which later became the modern Conservative Party.
