Delhi: The UN Security Council discussed the India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack. Assessing the current situation, the Security Council questioned Pakistan's nuclear threat against India. Many countries criticized Pakistan's missile tests at a time when tensions between the two countries are at their peak. The Security Council member states condemned the massacre on the basis of religion. The Security Council members also demanded that Pakistan take a strong stand against the terror attack.

The UN had earlier expressed concern over the possibility of tension between India and Pakistan. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres had earlier held a discussion by directly calling Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The United Nations had already come out to condemn the terror attack.

As the possibility of India-Pakistan conflict looms, various states will start preparing for an emergency situation from today. The Center yesterday instructed the states on the western border and in northern India to prepare immediately. The Union Home Secretary sent a letter containing seven suggestions to all Chief Secretaries.

The Center gave instructions such as installing air raid sirens to warn of air strikes. Adopting emergency evacuations, taking steps to prevent strategic centers from being discovered quickly, and providing training to students. Steps for this had been started in Punjab the previous day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called a high-level meeting yesterday to assess the situation. More steps will be taken from the Indian side today to reduce the flow of water to Pakistan.
