US President Donald Trump to reopen Alcatraz prison

 

 

US President Donald Trump has said he will reopen Alcatraz prison to house America's most violent and violent prisoners. Alcatraz, the notorious prison on a California island near San Francisco, has been ordered to reopen and renovate, Trump said. The order was given to the Bureau of Prisons, the Justice Department, the FBI and Homeland Security. It had been closed for more than 60 years.

Trump's move is to make sweeping changes to where and how federal and immigration detainees are held. The decision to reopen Alcatraz is the first step in this. The move to rebuild and reopen the long-closed prison is expensive and challenging. The prison was closed in 1963 due to deteriorating infrastructure and the high cost of maintaining and operating the prison. Everything from fuel to food had to be brought in by boat. The prison was also known as "The Rock", where criminals could not escape due to strong ocean currents and extremely cold water. According to the FBI, over the course of 29 years, 36 people tried to escape from the prison in various ways. But almost all were caught. Some died.
