There will be an increased presence of Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft in the Kananaskis region as part of security measures for the G7 Summit in June. The summit will be held from June 15 to 17. Restrictions and road closures are planned from June 10 to 18 to ensure the summit runs safely. Air Force aircraft will conduct surveillance from early May until the day the summit begins.

The summit venues in Kananaskis will be closed. Access will be limited to authorized officials, residents and businesses. Some roads, daily areas and local businesses will be closed, officials said.

CF-18 Hornet jets, Chinook and Griffon helicopters will be flying from now on, said Fraser Logan of the Integrated Safety and Security Group (ISSG). He said military vehicles will also be patrolling the roads.
