Prime Minister Mark Carney has taken office in Canada by forming a cabinet. In the 29-member cabinet, including the Prime Minister, 14 are completely new faces. Nine ministers are also new MPs. Anita Anand, of Indian origin, is the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. Anita Anand previously held the charge of the Department of Defense. Maninder Singh Sandhu will be the Minister of International Trade. Parliament will sit on the 27th of this month.

Some former members have also been included in Justin Trudeau's cabinet. Meanwhile, prominent ministers from the Trudeau era such as Bill Blair, Jonathan Wilkinson, Jean-Yves Duclos, Karina Gould and Mark Miller have been removed. Francois-Philippe Champagne has been retained as the Finance Minister. Dominique LeBlanc will lead trade negotiations with the United States. Patty Hajdu is the Minister of Labor and Families. The cabinet is generally described as a crisis cabinet. The cabinet faces many challenges, including the trade crisis with Trump and immigration. Carney describes his own cabinet as the hinge. His book, written before he got the chance to become prime minister and set to be published this month, is called The Hinge.
