Health experts have warned that COVID cases are increasing in densely populated Hong Kong and Singapore. New COVID waves have been reported in various parts of Asia. Albert Oh, head of Hong Kong's infectious diseases department, has warned that COVID cases in the city are rising. The percentage of respiratory samples testing positive for COVID in Hong Kong recently reached its highest level in a year.

Singapore is also seeing a surge in the number of COVID cases. The Ministry of Health reported COVID cases in May after a gap of a year. In the week ending May 3, 14,200 COVID cases were reported. A 28 percent increase was recorded compared to the previous week. A report from Singapore showed that the number of people hospitalized due to Covid increased by 30 percent. The Ministry of Health indicated that the increase may be a sign of weakening immunity. But no new variants of the virus have been reported yet.

The spread of Covid in Asia's two largest cities is also worrying other countries. Officials have said that the public should be vigilant and that high-risk individuals should definitely receive booster shots.
