Japanese automaker Subaru said it is raising prices on several models in the United States as the Trump administration's tariffs hit consumers' spending. Subaru said in a statement that the increases were in line with current market conditions.

The company says the changes are aimed at reducing costs while providing better value for customers. Car executives recently shared with investors how much the tariffs will cost them this year. Some experts in Detroit say it could cost as much as $5 billion more.

According to dealer websites, Subaru has announced price increases ranging from $750 to $2,055, depending on model and trim. The new prices will take effect in June, the announcement said. Subaru imports 45 percent of its vehicles sold in the United States, according to 2024 data from research firm S&P Global Mobility.

Other automakers have also adjusted their prices in the wake of the tariffs. Earlier this month, Ford Motor Co. raised the prices of three models made in Mexico by up to $2,000. Ford was one of the first major automakers to respond to Trump’s tariffs.
