Florida: The Axiom 4 mission is reportedly scheduled to launch on June 8. The launch will take place at 6:41 PM IST. Axiom Space's internal flight readiness review has been completed. All preparations for the mission are progressing very well.
SpaceX and Axiom have received permission for the launch. The passengers on Axiom 4 will stay at the space station for 14 days and conduct various experiments.
The date of the trip, which will be attended by Shubham Shukla, who is preparing to become the first Indian to go to space after Rakesh Sharma, had earlier been changed. The Axiom 4 mission, which was earlier scheduled to launch on May 29, has been shifted to June 8. Axiom 4 will be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Axiom 4 crew will travel to the International Space Station aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket in the Dragon capsule.
Apart from Shukla, the other members of the Axiom 4 mission are NASA senior astronaut Peggy Whitson, Polish native Sławos Usnanski, and Hungarian Tibor Kapu. They will spend 14 days on the space station and conduct various experiments. This is the first time an Indian has gone into space since Rakesh Sharma. Shukla's Axiom 4 journey also has the distinction of being the first time an Indian has gone to the International Space Station.
Shubhamshu Shukla, a native of Uttar Pradesh, is one of the four-member Air Force team selected for the Gaganyaan mission. Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Group Captain Ajit Krishnan are the others selected for the Gaganyaan space mission. ISRO is sending Shubhamshu to space in collaboration with NASA and American private companies Axiom Space and SpaceX. Shubhamshu Shukla is going to the International Space Station ahead of the Gaganyaan mission.
Shubhamshu Shukla is getting the opportunity in Axiom 4 as part of the India-US cooperation in the field of space. Rakesh Sharma, who traveled in 1984, is the only Indian to have been in space so far. Rakesh Sharma's space flight was on the Soviet Union's Soyuz T-11 spacecraft. Shubhaanshu Shukla had previously stated that he hopes to conduct many experiments during the two-week stay on the space station, and that the mission will inspire a new generation of Indians.
