A US court has granted Harvard University a temporary injunction against the Trump administration's move to block the admission of foreign students, including Canadians. Harvard University told the court that the government's action is against current laws and will cause a major setback for more than 7,000 people with international visas. The court granted a temporary injunction.

However, if the government's action is ultimately upheld, Harvard says it will not be able to admit new international students for at least two academic years. Harvard has about 6,800 international students. Most of them are undergraduates from more than 100 countries. The Trump administration's action will force existing foreign students, including those from other institutions, to transfer. This could also result in their losing their right to remain in the United States legally, Reuters reports. Cleo Carney, the daughter of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, is also a Harvard student. In addition, the Belgian princess is also studying at Harvard. If the court had intervened, it is possible that their studies would have been in jeopardy.
