60 crores per month! The highest paid star on Indian television

 

 

Entertainment television is a big industry like cinema. The biggest challenge facing this sector is to always stay up-to-date in production and presentation. The remuneration received by the hosts of some of the highest-rated television shows and others will shock us. Sometimes, those figures even surpass those of cinema. The highest remuneration on Indian television is 60 crores per month!

This is the remuneration received by Salman Khan, the host of the Hindi version of Bigg Boss, the most popular reality show on Indian television, in the last season (season 18). This is the season that ran from October 6, 2024 to January 19, 2025 on Colors TV and Jio Cinema. Salman Khan earned around 250 crores from the 15-week-long Bigg Boss season.

Salman Khan has been the face of Hindi Bigg Boss for over a year. While Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan were the hosts in the first seasons of the show, the ratings skyrocketed when Salman Khan took over. Even when Karan Johar came on board as the host of Bigg Boss OTT, there was a decline in popularity. There has also been a decline in ratings in episodes where Salman Khan stepped down from hosting due to health reasons or film commitments.

15 years ago, when he came to Bigg Boss, Salman Khan's fee for a film was 5-10 crores. Currently, he charges 150 crores for a film.

After Salman Khan, the highest paid actors on Indian television are Kapil Sharma and Rupali Ganguly. Kapil Sharma was paid 60 crores for the first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show. Actress Rupali Ganguly is paid 3 lakhs per episode for her role in the hit series Anupama.
