Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has demanded that the US mediate between India and Pakistan. He made the remarks while addressing an event at the US Embassy in Islamabad on Wednesday. Sharif praised US President Donald Trump's role in ending the four-day military operation last month following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
Meanwhile, India has rejected all claims about the US's role in ending the issue. Sharif praised Donald Trump as a leader against terrorism and war. Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who arrived in the US, also praised Trump. Bilawal praised Trump's diplomacy for the ceasefire and suggested that US mediation would pave the way for broader talks.
He said that if the US can help maintain the ceasefire, it would be beneficial for both countries to hold a comprehensive dialogue. India, however, has not responded to the issue. Experts believe that India sees this as an attempt to divert attention from Pakistan's role in cross-border terrorism and regain diplomatic influence.
