Washington: A federal court has temporarily suspended US President Donald Trump's order banning foreign students from Harvard University. The federal court has stayed Trump's order banning foreign students from entering the US. Trump issued the controversial order last Wednesday. The university then approached the court.

The court has extended the stay on Trump's order banning the university from admitting foreign students. The order was stayed by Massachusetts Court Judge Alison Burrows. Trump issued the order as part of a plan to reduce the number of students at the university by a quarter. At the same time, there are plans to stop government funding for various educational institutions, including Harvard, in retaliation for the Trump administration's failure to comply with its orders. One in four of Harvard's students are foreign.

The fight between the university and the government had intensified after Harvard made it clear that it would not take a stance that would violate the rights of students. The Trump administration has frozen $2.3 billion in funding for Harvard. It has also cut $1 billion from federal funds. With this, Harvard University has gone to court, arguing that the government has no right to interfere in the operations of private universities. The government has subsequently blocked the enrollment of foreigners at Harvard, which annually enrolls an average of 6,800 students from more than 100 countries.
