India - Canada agree to restore diplomatic ties

 

 

Agreement to restore India-Canada diplomatic relations after hiatus. The decision regarding this was taken during the discussion between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during the G7 summit. The two leaders held bilateral talks. India and Canada will appoint new High Commissioners.
The move is aimed at making diplomatic services available to citizens, businesses, etc. of both countries.

Prime Minister Modi said at X that India and Canada are bound together by a firm belief in democracy, freedom and the rule of law, and the meeting was excellent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India-Canada relationship is very important and both countries need to work together. After the talks, the Canadian Prime Minister said that the Canada-India relationship will be based on mutual respect and commitment to sovereignty.
