Kiev: Two people were killed and 14 injured in a Russian drone strike in Ukraine. The drone crashed into a 21-story building in a residential area in Odessa, Ukraine. The incident took place last night. Reports say three children are among the injured. Regional governor Oleh Kiper said one of the injured was in critical condition.
Videos posted by the State Emergency Service show firefighters trying to put out the fire and evacuating residents from the 21-story building. Russia has stepped up drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities as diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war have stalled. Ukraine launched attacks on Russian air bases in early June. The attacks occurred at four locations at the same time. Ukraine claimed to have shot down about 40 warplanes. Russia later confirmed the attack.
The United States continues to try to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war. Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement indicating that relations with the US are improving is expected to pave the way for mediation talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Putin said at a news conference that he has great respect for Trump and is ready to meet with Trump. Trump responded by saying that Putin's remarks were very warm. The two leaders had a phone conversation two weeks ago about the concerns that have arisen in the Middle East following the Israel-Iran conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war.
