Birmingham: England have announced the playing XI for the second cricket Test against India. England will go into the second Test with no changes to the team that played in the first Test. Pacer Jofra Archer was expected to make it to the England playing XI, but Archer was not considered for the second Test.
England, who won the first Test at Headingley, are leading the five-match series 1-0. While the pace line-up retained Braydon Carse, Josh Tong and Chris Woakes, who played in the first Test, for the second Test, captain Ben Stokes will be the pace all-rounder. Shoaib Bashir is the only spinner in the team.
Jofra Archer was included in the squad for the second Test after his performance against Sussex in county cricket. However, it is being suggested that Archer left the training camp today due to a family emergency, which is why he was left out of the second Test. Ben Duckett, Zac Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root and Harry Brook, who shone in the first Test, have also retained their places in the batting line-up.
India will start the second Test against England in Birmingham the day after. England won the first Test in Leeds by five wickets. England chased down the target of 371 runs set by India with a century from Ben Duckett.
