The Canadian government has temporarily postponed changes to the PGWP. Last month, new eligibility rules were announced in this regard. As of June 25, IRCC announced that international students in 178 fields of study will not be eligible for PGWP. These changes have been decided not to be implemented now.

IRCC justified the decision to remove some programs by stating that they are not related to occupations facing a long-term labor shortage. The PGWP is a system that allows students who have graduated from accredited Canadian schools to gain valuable work experience in the country. According to IRCC, although 178 fields of study were removed, 119 eligible programs were added in key areas such as health care, social services, education, and trade. The new changes are expected to take effect from next year. This decision is very beneficial for international students.
