A baby dinosaur, but the fossil fetched Rs 263 crore at auction!

 

 

New York: An ancient dinosaur fossil was auctioned for $ 30.5 million in New York City. Its value is approximately Rs 263 crore in Indian currency. This dinosaur fossil was also included in the recent auction of rare objects held by Sotheby's. In this auction, which sold for a huge amount, including a rock from Mars, the dinosaur fossil also fetched a surprising price. The skeleton was sold for $ 30.5 million, including fees and expenses, after a six-minute intense bidding at the auction table.

With this, it became the third most expensive dinosaur skeleton in the world. In an auction held in July last year, a dinosaur fossil named Apex was sold for $ 44.6 million. This is approximately Rs 380 crore in Indian currency. The auctioneers did not reveal who bought the dinosaur fossil for security reasons. Organizers said it is about 150 million years old.

The skeleton of a juvenile Ceratosaurus dinosaur, more than six feet tall and about 11 feet long, went up for auction yesterday. The skeleton, believed to date from the late Jurassic period, about 150 million years ago, has been identified as a Ceratosaurus nasicornis. It is one of four known skeletons of the species. It is also the only skeleton of a juvenile. Although similar to Tyrannosaurus rex, this species is smaller.
