Instagram is introducing a new feature called automatic scrolling option. Meta has started testing this feature with some users. This feature will be very useful for mobile users. Information about this new feature was first shared by a user on Threads, another app of Meta.
The auto-scroll feature allows users to view reels or posts one after the other without having to manually scroll. This makes the experience more convenient and hands-free. This is especially helpful for users who spend a lot of time watching reels or video content. Users can turn the auto-scroll feature on or off in Instagram’s settings. When turned on, Instagram will automatically play the next reel after the current one finishes. No tapping or swiping is required.
How Instagram's Auto Scroll Works
Users will get the option to enable this feature in the settings. If you turn it on, you won't have to swipe again and again. After enabling Instagram's auto scroll feature, the reels will keep changing without touching or swiping. The change will happen after the first reels are over. It is important to note here that the second reels will appear on the screen only after the first reels are over. Meta hopes that Instagram's auto scroll feature will help the company improve customer engagement.
This feature will become a game changer in the world of social media apps. Currently, this feature is in the experimental phase. It is available only to a limited number of users. Meta has announced that it will be extended to more people if the experiment is successful. In the coming days, this feature will start getting to Instagram users around the world, including India.
Meanwhile, Meta had earlier said that it would verify the age of users through AI technology in a new update. Until now, Instagram relied solely on the date of birth provided by the user when creating an account. But now, if a user shows that they are 18 years old or older, AI will check whether this claim is true or not based on their activities, profile details, and other signs. If the platform suspects that a teenager has intentionally misrepresented their age, they will have to upload an identification card (ID) to prove their age. Or they will have to follow Meta's other verification options.
