Japanese researchers are set to revolutionize dentistry. Researchers in Japan are preparing to conduct human trials of a drug that can regrow fallen teeth. A team from Kyoto and Fukui Universities and Kitano Hospital in Japan has embarked on such an experiment.

This drug was developed in 2021 under the leadership of Katsu Takahashi, head of the Department of Dentistry at the Medical Research Institute of Kitano Hospital. They are trying to bring this drug to the market by 2030. The study in this regard has been published in the journal 'Science Advances'.

The researchers first developed a special monoclonal antibody to neutralize the gene called gene 1 or USAG1, which is responsible for the non-regrowth of fallen teeth. This experiment was first conducted on mice and white mice. When the antibodies were injected into these animals, new teeth grew. After it was successful, the same experiment is now going to be conducted on humans. 30 men between the ages of 30 and 64 were selected for the experiment. If the experiment is successful, the research team claims that new teeth can be grown in people who have lost their teeth due to old age or in accidents.
