Dehradun: Flash floods hit Dharali village in Uttarkashi. The unexpected flood has caused extensive damage. Many buildings, including houses and hotels, have collapsed. It is reported that about 50 hotels are under water.
The flash floods following a cloudburst have spread panic across the Himalayan region. The Amarnath Yatra had been officially cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and monsoon damage. In this situation, the authorities have strictly advised tourists and pilgrims to avoid visiting high-risk areas in North India.
Shocking scenes are emerging from Dharali village located in Harsil area of Uttarkashi district. The surging water is seen wreaking havoc in the entire area. Within seconds, entire houses in one area were washed away. The sudden overflowing of the Kheer Ganga River due to a cloudburst has caused extensive damage. There are concerns that there will be a large number of casualties.
