Chikungunya spreads in China; More than 7,000 cases, alert issued

 

 

Chikungunya is reported to be spreading in China. The disease is reported to be spreading in Guangdong province. More than 7,000 cases have been reported here since July. Following this, international media reports that the authorities have taken measures similar to those taken during the Covid pandemic.

The disease is most severely affected in the city of Foshan. Here, patients have been advised to remain in hospital until their test results come back negative. In addition to Foshan, infections have been reported in 12 other cities. About 3,000 cases were reported last week alone.
