Brasilia: Brazil says India and Brazil will face US tariff threat together. Brazilian President Lula da Silva said he discussed unilateral tariffs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Center has not yet confirmed that the tariff issue was discussed. There are reports that there is a plan among BRICS countries to take a collective action to confront US pressure. Meanwhile, the United States has reported that the additional tariffs have increased revenue by 100 million.

Lula da Silva and Modi held an hour-long conversation yesterday. BRICS countries may jointly consider ways to confront tariff pressure. India had omitted mention of tariffs in the press release about the talks between Lula da Silva and Modi. The Prime Minister had announced yesterday that he is ready to pay any price to protect the interests of farmers.

In the conversation between the two leaders, they talked about the understandings between the two countries in the fields of trade, technology, energy, defense and agriculture. During his visit to Brazil last month, the two countries discussed trade deals, including the ones they had reached. According to central government sources, they also talked about taking the partnership between India and Brazil to a new level.
