Delhi: As part of the restoration of relations between India and China, it is reported that the two countries may resume direct flights as early as next month. It was decided earlier to start direct services. Indian airlines have been asked to prepare services. The report also says that an announcement in this regard will be made before the SCO summit to be held in China in August. Passenger flights were suspended due to the Kovid pandemic. Later, the services were suspended due to diplomatic issues. The journey was via Hong Kong and Singapore.
The move by India and China comes amid an escalating tariff war between India and the US. Meanwhile, Air India had announced on Monday that it would suspend Washington DC services next month. Relations between India and China had deteriorated after the border clashes in 2020.
But India recently relented after granting tourist visas to Chinese citizens. Earlier, Air India, IndiGo, Air China, China Southern and China Eastern operated direct services. Air India and IndiGo are expected to resume China services.
