Delhi: India and China to restore border trade ties. India and China are working together to resume trade through Lipulekh, Shipki La and Nathu La passes, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement. The Ministry will cooperate with China to resume border trade through all designated trading points such as Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand, Shipki La Pass in Himachal Pradesh and Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. If there are any updates, we will inform you, said External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal at a press conference.
Meanwhile, India and China will hold a crucial meeting next week to discuss the border disputes between the two countries. The two countries will hold special delegation-level talks next week. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India on August 18. He will meet National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The two will discuss border issues between the two countries.
This is the first time a Chinese foreign minister is visiting India since the Galwan clash in June 2020. Therefore, both countries attach importance to the meeting. There were also reports that direct flights between the two countries are likely to resume from next month. The Indian government has asked airlines like Air India and IndiGo to prepare for services to China. Direct air traffic between the two countries was temporarily suspended after the outbreak of Covid-19.
