‘
WhatsApp Screen Mirroring Fraud’ is a new way that online fraudsters have found to trick people and commit financial crimes. In WhatsApp screen mirroring fraud, hackers gain access to a smartphone through a video call. In addition, the data on the device can be easily stolen. Victims may lose access to their bank accounts and face identity theft through a video call via WhatsApp.
OneCard has recently warned its customers about this new method of financial fraud via WhatsApp.
This scam involves cybercriminals cleverly luring users into sharing their phone screens via WhatsApp. The fraudsters will ask them to make a regular call and switch to a WhatsApp video call. These scammers will then share a code or malware link. When you click on this link or use the code, the hackers will gain complete control of your phone. Never accept video calls from unknown or suspicious numbers. Also, never share your phone screen with strangers. Enable two-factor authentication on all financial and messaging apps.
