ChatGPT maker OpenAI has released the first detailed report that details how people use the chatbot and who its users are. The report includes detailed information about how people use the artificial intelligence and what they talk to it about.

The report says that the majority of ChatGPT users are women and that the majority of requests sent are not work-related. The number of users is dominated by young people. Most of the suggestions or needs come from people between the ages of 18 and 25. But the study shows that ChatGPT has a global and diverse user base. The report is based on chat logs from 1.5 million ChatGPT users from May 2024 to June 2025. The 62-page report released is based on data from 1.5 million ChatGPT users.
