Amravati: A sixth grade student has been reported to have sustained a skull injury after being hit by her teacher. The parents said that the injury occurred after the teacher hit the child on the head with a bag. The bag contained a steel drinking vessel. Sattwika Nagasree (11), a sixth grade student, was injured in Punganur in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The complaint is against Hindi teacher Salima Basha.

Police said that the teacher was angry after the child misbehaved in class. This was on September 10. The child's mother, Vijetha, is a science teacher at the same school. However, it was not immediately clear that the child was seriously injured. Later, the child suffered a headache and dizziness. She was unable to go to school. This is why the child was taken to the hospital.

Initially, she was taken to the hospital in Punganur. The doctor, realizing the seriousness of the situation, recommended specialist treatment. He was shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru. A CT scan conducted there revealed a fractured skull. The parents then filed a complaint against the teacher and the principal. The Punkanur police registered a case and started an investigation. Following the incident, angry parents went to the school and protested against the teachers' disciplinary action.
